On our trip to Belgium, we took the opportunity to visit two beautiful cities, Bruges and Ghent. The first one I already knew from my previous visit, and the second one was a great discovery!!
I think that if you have the necessary time, it’s better that you dedicate one day to each of these cities, to be able to see all the monuments, walk and explore its streets and, above all, very important, enjoy buying your sweets and chocolates!
In our case we were fairly fair, so I decided to take an excursion that took us on the same day to visit Bruges and Ghent (you also have the option of making a full day excursion for each of these cities!) But, you can always choose take the train, on our first visit it was what we did, but you will need more time, especially if we take into account that in Bruges the station is somewhat far from the tourist area.
They are big cities, but their most significant monuments are pretty together!
From my point of view, in Bruges you can’t miss: the beguinary (a real city inside another, preserves its schedules of old, when it was raised by the women who were left alone while the men were going to fight, to protect themselves from the dangers), the canals, the hospital of San Juan, the beer museum, the town hall, the lake minnewater and, of course, its idyllic grote mark. Here I would add the chocolate shops! In Bruges, 40% purity is demanded, the best chocolates in Belgium!
Also, in Ghent I would not stop visiting: the Cathedral of San Bavón, the bell tower, the town hall, the church of San Nicolás, the castle of the Counts of Flanders, the port area and the Plaza de la Muerte.
I already tell you that our visit was super fleeting, I leave to later explore in conditions both cities. What I can assure you is that both have captivated me, that Gante has surprised me a lot and for very well (I thought that after the meeting with «Brujas» nothing would be comparable), and that the sweets are… to die for !!!
I hope you like it and serve you!
Lots of kisses!!
