GREETINGS FROM IBIZA

Kisses and hugs from Ibiza! I would love for the phrase to be one hundred percent real, and to be writing these lines from my terrace in front of Playa D’en Bossa, but the reality is different. Now I am at home, in front of my computer, eager to tell you about our first post-confinement trip.

Some things have already advanced in instagram, and surely many of you already know that we fly with Volotea directly from Asturias. There were no delays and, in spite of the new circumstances, the passengers during the flight complied with all the measures, and for our part we take the utmost precautions. Obviously any trip, gathering of people, etc. It is risky, but I can tell you that we did our best to minimize the risks.

Our trip lasted five days, two and a half in Ibiza and two and a half in Formentera. In this post I am going to tell you about our experience in Ibiza and how we moved around both islands, and in the next few days I will make another post about Formentera.

Ibiza was different, much more empty, without parties or crowds, it was still beautiful, but we were surprised to see it so empty. With the current situation it’s logical, especially considering that a large part of the island’s tourism is looking for a party, something that this year there is hardly any. It can be a good year to take a calmer view of the island, enjoy its beaches and open up to a more familiar audience.

We went with a very quiet plan, visit some beaches, dine on a terrace and avoid crowds.

We stayed at the Hotel Santos Ibiza, on the beachfront. Literally, right next to their pool, they go down some stairs directly to Playa D’en Bossa, in the photos you can see it well.

The entire hotel was very well prepared, the hammocks by the pool at the distance required by the health authorities, inside the hotel it is necessary to wear a mask, and the buffet breakfast has been replaced by a menu with several menus of the guests’ choice.

Our room couldn’t be more wonderful, we had a living area, with its own kitchen and bar, some speakers to enjoy good music and a large terrace just above the large pool and overlooking all of Playa D’en Bossa.

Every year we have chosen this area of the island to stay as it seems very comfortable. There is a party if you want it, but it’s not such a hectic area as San Antonio, it’s very close to the airport and next to Ibiza town, and the rest of the island’s beaches are at most 30-40 minutes away by car.

Speaking of the car, you already know that it’s essential for us to have a trustworthy rental to move around the island. It had been years since we traveled in July, and despite the fact that this year the influx was less, my recommendation is that you do not wait long to rent your car.
We had a Peugeot 108 with a convertible top. The truth that seems to me a perfect car for two people. The size is ideal and, under normal conditions, it’s better to have a compact car since sometimes it will be difficult to park on the island. We rented it at Extra Rent, they have the office just in front of the port of Ibiza, and its owner, Rafa, gave us all the facilities. To get to the office you can take bus 10 that leaves directly from the airport.

You already know that I’m more of a car, because of the luggage and because I’m afraid, but many people choose to tour the islands on a motorcycle. Especially when parking is a very comfortable option, so I find it interesting to tell you that at Extra Rent they also offer vintage type scooter rentals, below I leave you a photo. It’s a model that has always fascinated me, it’s very photorable and I find them beautiful, they also have them in a lot of colors. Finally (and this is something that seems very useful to me on the island), in the office itself they have a luggage storage service, so that you can leave them there and don’t worry.

This time we opted for a more relaxed plan, other times we tried to see many beaches and coves, but this time we took it more slowly to enjoy the hotel more. We visit Playa D’en Bossa, the es Cavallet beach and, of course, a visit to the Es Vedrá viewpoint is a 100% obligatory stop to take in all its magic.

As for lunch and dinner, we revisited Steak’n Shake (we love their burgers) and Hard Rock Cafe. This year we were for the first time in Amante Ibiza, we loved it, very delicious food and a dream place, we signed up to return during the day to better see the views of Cala Llonga.

I think with this I will not leave anything! I hope you like the recommendations and they serve you, and that you are going to travel this year or not, this post will help you to escape, a big hug!
