Muchos besos!

We continue with our Greek adventure! Today is the turn of the capital, we are going to discover Athens together.

As I anticipated in this post, our stay in Athens should have lasted three nights and practically three days. Our problem came the day we were supposed to fly from Mykonos to Athens, our half day flight was canceled, and we were assigned one at night. After that, the new flight was delayed once, and again, and again… and in the end it was canceled.

The next transport option would arrive at lunchtime the next day, but this cost us almost a day in Athens (a good bummer). To all this, I continue with the claim to the airline, I will tell you how everything is going through my instagram.

In short, we have a day and a half to fully exploit Athens, I am going to tell you how we did it, what we saw and who were our allies.

I have to start by saying that it was my second time in the city, and that makes things a lot easier. Probably in a totally new city I would have been more discouraged and the feeling of «leaving important things» in the pipeline would have tormented me a bit, I am! But luckily it was my second time in Athens!

Our first ally was waiting for us as soon as we left the airport, we decided to hire a transfer service to speed up the round trip to our hotel, in this way we would optimize time.

The traffic in Athens is crazy, in fact we considered the option of renting a car and now I am very glad that we did not, it isn’t necessary and the cost of parking is very high.

We chose Athens taxi vip transfers, in fact we were also going to do the excursion to Cape Sounión with them, here you can see the review I did four years ago. This (sadly) was one of the things we had to give up, since you have to do a three-hour drive by car, otherwise we would have very little time to visit the city, but as my followers say, an excuse to come back!

The second of our allies, and undoubtedly the cornerstone of our getting to visit absolutely everything, was our hotel. We stayed at Athenian Residences, and couldn’t have made a better decision. All the points of interest in the city (which I will now tell you about) were between five and fifteen minutes by foot. It was a salvation.

On the one hand, we were able to move comfortably by foot to all the points of interest, and the proximity allowed us to return to rest a bit at the beginning of the afternoon at the hotel, since the heat of Athens at this time of year is incredible!

Our room was huge, it had a living room, dining room, fully equipped kitchen, private room, terrace, dressing room and two bathrooms. It also had air conditioning, netflix and breakfasts are served in the room with a choice of six different options. I see the photos and I just want to go back, how delicious everything was. The hotel staff was very attentive and made sure that we were missing absolutely nothing.

Also outside the hotel there is a small pool where you can cool off for a while. Here is a link to a small video where you can see the facilities well as some unmissable spots in the city.

Here is a list of the essential places that, in my opinion, you should visit on an express visit to Athens: undoubtedly the ancient Agora, you also have the Roman Agora, although this is smaller, stroll through the Plaka neighborhood, Syntagma Square, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Monastiraki Square, the Panathenaic Stadium and, of course, the Acropolis.

For some of these visits you can get a joint ticket that includes several of the attractions that I just mentioned and it will be cheaper. They are bought directly at the attractions themselves, at the entrance you will see the posters. Also, if you are students and under 25 you can enjoy great discounts when accessing the monuments.

At lunchtime you will find a multitude of places, there is a huge offer, so it’s best to explore. Personally, I’m going to recommend a site for its views, its quality and, above all, its price. It’s called MS Roof Garden. I leave you below a photo of the pasta dish that I ate with views of the Acropolis and Monastiraki Square for only 8.50 euros. At the top they also have a roof top to enjoy a cocktail with views.

Speaking of cafes, we found a place that I really liked, it’s called Ellyz, it’s all pink, with flowers and neon on the walls, a place a little more «posh» but very pretty for my taste.

And so far my recommendations for Athens in less than 48 hours, I hope you like them and they serve you!

Lots of kisses!
