Siempre es un placer volver a casa, a mi tierra, Asturias, y más aún si puedo hacerlo con unas vistas como estas.
El pasado fin de semana tuvimos la suerte de disfrutar de una escapada de ensueño en el Abba Playa Gijón Hotel. En este post os lo cuento como una idea estupenda para regalar por San Valentín, pero en realidad es la idea perfecta para cualquier momento del año.
La ubicación del hotel es inmejorable, frente a la escalera 16 de la playa de San Lorenzo, lo que le proporciona una vistas maravillosas. Os diré que, aunque no todas las habitaciones cuentan con estas vistas, existen unos sofás comunitarios en todos los pasillos de las habitaciones, que puedan usar todos los huéspedes y que tienen las mismas vistas que esta habitación. Soy sincera, poder levantarte de la cama y tumbarte en el sofá a contemplar el mar desde tu habitación, no tiene precio, pero esta es una opción maravillosa si este tipo de habitaciones no están disponibles.
El hotel está completamente equipado, cuenta con un desayuno buffet muy variado y los sábados y domingos podéis hacer un brunch en su acogedor 37th Gastro Pub. Nosotros lo hicimos hace algunos años y nos encantó, os lo cuento en este post.
En esta ocasión disfrutamos también del 37th Gastro Pub, pero para cenar. Tienen una carta muy variada y de calidad, y aunque me cueste elegir, tengo que destacar sus croquetas de jamón, ¡estaban realmente buenas!
Las habitaciones son muy amplias, totalmente equipadas y quiero destacar lo luminosas que son, es algo que me resulta muy importante a la hora de elegir hotel, la luz me da vida.
Gijón, al igual que Oviedo, es una ciudad bastante manejable, así que con calzado cómodo y ganas de caminar, podéis aparcar tranquilamente el coche en el hotel y dedicaros a pasear por toda la ciudad. Únicamente la zona de la Laboral, que está a las afueras de Gijón, os recomendaría visitarla en coche o transporte público, pero por lo que respecta a los principales atractivos: Tostaderu, Paseo de San Lorenzo, Plazuela San Miguel, Plaza Parchís, calle Los Moros y Corrida, fuente de Pelayo, cuesta de Cimadevilla, Ayuntamiento, Cerro, etc, podéis visitarlos a pie desde el hotel sin ningún problema.
Si después de la caminata aún os quedan ánimos para practicar un poco de deporte, el hotel cuenta con un pequeño gimnasio, y sino siempre podéis relajaros en la zona de spa. También cuenta con piscina exterior, pero esta sólo se encuentra abierta los meses de verano, al igual que un impresionante rooftop (¡madre mía, qué ganas de verano de pronto!).

It’s always a pleasure to return home, to my land, Asturias, and even more so if I can do it with views like these.
Last weekend we were lucky enough to enjoy a dream getaway at the Abba Playa Gijón Hotel. In this post I tell you about it as a great idea to gift for Valentine’s Day, but in reality it’s the perfect idea for any time of the year.
The hotel’s location is unbeatable, in front of stairway 16 of San Lorenzo beach, which provides wonderful views. I will tell you that, although not all the rooms have these views, there are some communal sofas in all the corridors of the rooms, which all guests can use and which have the same views as this room. I’m honest, being able to get out of bed and lie on the sofa to contemplate the sea from your room is priceless, but this is a wonderful option if these types of rooms are not available.
The hotel is fully equipped, has a very varied buffet breakfast and on Saturdays and Sundays you can have brunch in its cozy 37th Gastro Pub. We did it a few years ago and we loved it, I’ll tell you about it in this post.
On this occasion we also enjoyed the 37th Gastro Pub, but for dinner. They have a very varied and quality menu, and although it’s hard for me to choose, I have to highlight their ham croquettes, they were really good!
The rooms are very spacious, fully equipped and I want to highlight how bright they are, it’s something that is very important to me when choosing a hotel, light gives me life.
Gijón, like Oviedo, is a fairly manageable city, so with comfortable shoes and a desire to walk, you can safely park your car at the hotel and spend your time walking around the city. Only the Laboral area, which is on the outskirts of Gijón, I would recommend visiting by car or public transport, but as regards the main attractions: Tostaderu, Paseo de San Lorenzo, Plazuela San Miguel, Plaza Parchís, Calle Los Moros y Corrida, Fuente de Pelayo, Cuesta de Cimadevilla, Ayuntamiento, Cerro, etc., you can visit them on foot from the hotel without any problem.
If after the walk you still have the courage to practice a little sport, the hotel has a small gym, and if not you can always relax in the spa area. It also has an outdoor swimming pool, but this is only open during the summer months, as well as an impressive rooftop (my goodness, I can’t wait for summer soon!).
